Key Findings

Large majorities of world citizens believe that democracy is the best system of government and are satisfied with it, according to a new Voice of the People© survey. Despite this clear legitimacy of the system, strong criticism are made on its functioning: The poll, which interviewed over 60,000 people in 57 countries last Summer, shows that nearly half of the respondents think elections in their country are not free and fair and six in ten that governments across the world do not follow the people’s will when it comes to making decisions.
