Tue 04/11/2008Democracy Press Release KEY FINDINGS As the world closely follows the development of the US Presidential election campaign, strong criticism persists regarding the functioning of democracy: nearly half of world citizens think elections in their country are not free and fair and six in ten declare they are not ruled by the will of the people. These findings come from the results of the Voice of the PeopleTM 2008, a regular Gallup International global survey, conducted across more than 55 countries and which interviewed in excess of 58,600 people between June and early September 2008, thus representing the views of more than 1.5 billion global citizens.
